Indirect Tax Manager – International (Based in Ireland)

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Indirect Tax Manager to take responsibility for the management and oversight of international indirect tax matters across our global operations. Based in Ireland, this role will be a central point of expertise for VAT, GST, customs, excise, and other consumption taxes worldwide.

This is a high-impact position working closely with cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions to ensure compliance, support business expansion, and drive continuous improvement in our tax processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities

Global Compliance & Reporting

  • Oversee and coordinate indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely VAT/GST filings, EC Sales Listings, Intrastat, customs declarations, and related statutory returns.
  • Manage international tax reconciliations, review supporting data, and ensure robust internal controls across all geographies.
  • Partner with shared service centres and external providers involved in global compliance processes.

Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Provide practical, commercially focused advice on international VAT/GST, customs, and other indirect tax matters.
  • Support global projects, supply chain structuring, systems migrations, new market entries, and contract reviews.
  • Advise finance, legal, commercial, logistics, and procurement teams on the indirect tax implications of business decisions.

Tax Strategy, Governance & Risk Management

  • Monitor global indirect tax legislative changes and assess business impacts, ensuring proactive readiness for regulatory updates.
  • Lead or support tax audits and queries from foreign tax authorities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong indirect tax policies, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.

Process Improvement & Technology

  • Identify opportunities to streamline indirect tax processes through automation, standardised procedures, or improved data quality.
  • Work with IT and finance systems teams to enhance tax determination, reporting, and compliance tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across global indirect tax operations.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with colleagues across tax, finance, supply chain, IT, and commercial teams globally.
  • Provide training or guidance to internal teams to increase awareness of indirect tax requirements.
  • Potential to mentor junior team members depending on structure.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional tax or accounting qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
  • 3+ years’ experience in indirect tax, ideally with international exposure (e.g., EU VAT, global VAT/GST regimes, customs).
  • Strong technical expertise in VAT/GST and familiarity with customs and excise rules.
  • Experience in a multinational environment or Big 4 advisory is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret complex tax rules across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.) is an advantage.

Indirect Tax Associate

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Work authorisation: Ireland (required)
Pay: €33,000.00-€35,000.00 per year

Due to growth in its compliance service offering, Global Tax Reclaim is looking to add an ambitious, energetic and focused individual to the team to support our growing base of domestic and international clients.

The role will involve managing indirect tax filings in multiple jurisdictions to ensure that the clients remain compliant with all indirect tax laws and timely submission processes.

This position requires demonstrated indirect tax knowledge, analytical abilities, communication skills, and will be responsible for assisting in various facets of the GTR indirect tax processes.

This role will suit a quick learner who can adapt and perform in the role shortly after recruitment and bring fresh ideas to an established Indirect Tax compliance process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Indirect Tax returns for multiple EMEA jurisdictions;
  • Ensuring VAT & internal audit controls are adhered to;
  • Act as key liaison between indirect tax and non-tax departments to raise VAT compliance profile, remedy tax issues at source and proactively manage risk;
  • Actively monitor tax process and systems to ensure that that they are efficient, accurate, up to date and comply with current regulatory requirements;
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to achieve end to end process improvements and coordinate implementation as needed;
  • Keep abreast of changes to Indirect Tax legislation and potential impact on the company and its clients;

Requirements

  • Qualified or part qualified CTA or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance an advantage
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a tax function or similar related to indirect taxes
  • Fluent English required and other language an advantage;
  • Track record demonstrating high standard of communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills required
  • Microsoft Office, experience with tax determination software an advantage.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills with a proactive work ethic;
  • Ability to work independently, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously;
  • Comfortable in a high volume, deadline driven environment with emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to generate and share ideas with a continuous improvement focus
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working roles, providing assistance to other colleagues in busy periods, by proactively making themselves available to support when required;

  • Technical VAT Knowledge: Strong understanding of VAT legislation, rules, and compliance requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ability to ensure adherence to local and international VAT reporting standards.

  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in preparing and reviewing VAT returns, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with clients, tax authorities, and internal teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in resolving VAT queries, discrepancies, and audits.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience using tax compliance software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP/tax platforms).
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross-functional teams (finance, legal, operations).
  • Client Relationship Management: Strong skills in building trust and delivering high-quality advisory support.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle evolving tax regulations and complex business structures.
