Alan Byrne
CEO
Alan co-founded GTR in 2004 after many years working in the indirect tax industry, both from a client's perspective with multinationals and from a client-facing perspective with the VAT service industry. Over the years, he has designed many unique VAT-related services and loves nothing better than rolling his sleeves up and working directly with many of our clients on their VAT challenges.
A keen footballer, Alan, lives with his family in Dublin and continues to train young footballers in his local soccer club.
Derek Kehoe
Commercial Director
Derek joined GTR in 2012. With significant experience and a proven track record in setting up, running, and commercialising businesses, Derek has spearheaded the company's sales and commercial initiatives. A firm believer in customer relationships, he works hand in hand with our client base to ensure they maximise their VAT savings. His door is always open to talk with our clients when they have a question or need advice.
Derek lives in Kildare with his family and has a keen interest in many sports, especially athletics and equestrian sports, with which many family members have had international success.
Peter Nicholson
Marketing Director
Peter worked alongside Alan, the CEO of GTR, during the early stages when the company. The first conversation they had about setting GTR was on a local golf course in the rain. Together, they laid the groundwork for the brand and introduced the service to the Irish market. Over the years, Peter has played a significant role in positioning the company for success. In 2021, he became a board member and took on the role of Marketing Director.
Throughout his career, Peter has gained extensive experience in international marketing and communications. In addition to owning a marketing company, he is also a successful public speaker and published author. He resides in Tallaght with his family and enjoys oil painting and walking his dogs.
Niall Brogan
Compliance Director
Niall joined the company in 2013 and plays a vital role. His ability to understand our clients' VAT challenges across multiple regions is second to none. You rarely pass his office without him on the phone discussing and resolving VAT challenges with our clients or with tax offices across Europe or beyond. Sometimes, the conversation may move on to Tennis, as he has more than one talent!
Ingram Parson
Claim Compliance Director
Ingram was one of our first employees and has moved through the ranks with many roles in GTR before becoming our Claim Compliance Director with responsibility for all the GTR offices’ claims processing. He consistently balances the need for compliance with the realities of operational efficiency - a difficult but essential skill.
When not working, Ingram keeps himself busy playing golf badly, reading and coaching a Junior Ladies GAA team in the Thomas Davis GAA Club.
Ann Owens
Finance Manager Ireland and SSC
Ann joined GTR in 2011 and has been a cornerstone of our organisation ever since. As the leader of both our Finance and Refund teams, Ann brings a unique combination of strategic foresight and operational precision that ensures the smooth functioning of two of our most critical departments. With a deep passion for finance — and always up for a good conversation about it — Ann is known for her collaborative spirit and mentorship. Her ability to think long-term while staying on top of the finer details fosters both efficiency and innovation within her teams.
Perhaps most importantly, Ann has cultivated a culture of trust, confidence, and accountability, empowering her colleagues and building strong, resilient teams that consistently deliver results.
Darren Byrne
Operations Manager SSC Services
Darren joined GTR in 2010. Although he had a background in operations, he began his journey with us as a Sales Manager. While in this position, he rediscovered his passion for operations and problem-solving. As he excelled at managing and maximizing the potential of his team, he advanced to the role of Operations Manager. Darren now effectively oversees our headquarters in Dublin as well as our regional offices across Europe and beyond.
In addition to his professional achievements, Darren has always been deeply involved in sports. He enjoys nothing more than supporting and watching his family in their athletic activities, particularly boxing.
